Microsoft held its Build 2016 developer conference on Wednesday, and although that sounds extremely invigorating to developers and tech nerds alike, the event went off in typical Microsoft fashion.

While everyone braced for exciting news from Microsoft products like HoloLens and Cortona, what stuck out most was how cringe-worthy the whole presentation seemed.

Nearly ever time the camera panned to the audience, everyone looked incredibly unenthused.

Some people were even caught just not paying attention at all.

Thankfully, Brian Roper returned for our amusement.

And although we do love Roper and his attitude, he, along with his alarmingly low fedora, were basically a punching bag for the entire event.

Even the HoloLens demo was much less than exciting than usual, where the only thing people actually seemed excited about was the two white dudes, one of them belt-less, wearing khakis and polos.

The NASA demo was also highly anticipated, but instead, Microsoft ruined our memory of an American hero, Buzz Aldrin.

The man walked on the damn moon, and Microsoft threw him into a demo that looks like a bad video game from the 90s.

And when Microsoft tried to show off that it can teach bots slang, it chose to use the word "crib," which just screams out-of-touch dad attempting to be cool.

Even the obvious jokes were, well, just bad.

And a heartfelt hug just left everyone thinking, WTF?

We get it, it's a developers conference. It's a chance to showcase what Microsoft is working on for the technicians and engineers that make everything work. This isn't supposed to be cool, it's not supposed to be funny. But Microsoft's attempts to make it both just came off as lame.
