Mike Pence's daughter bought John Oliver's book about the VP's gay bunny

Charlotte Pence supports the parody because it also supports charity.

Charlotte Pence endorses John Oliver's gay bunny parody of her new book.

According to the Hill, the vice president's 24-year-old daughter is one of thousands of people who bought Oliver's sold-out picture book, which parodies the younger Pence's story of her family's pet rabbit Marlon Bundo.

In the original, Marlon Bundo's A Day In the Life of the Vice President, the Pence family pet learns about the daily responsibilities of the second in command. John Oliver's parody has a similar storyline, except the rabbit is gay and falls in love with another boy rabbit.

Apparently, Charlotte Pence supports the gay version of the book, too. She told the Hill that "it doesn't have to be divisive," adding that "everybody can come together over Marlon."

Nevermind that the Oliver spoof is a jab at her father's stance on LGBTQ rights -- she told Fox Business: "But in all seriousness, his book is contributing to charities that I think we can all get behind. We have two books that are giving to charities that are both about bunnies, so I’m all for it, really,”

A portion of the proceeds from Charlotte Pence's book will be split between Tracy's Kids, an organization that provides art therapy to cancer patients, and A21, a non-profit that fights human trafficking.

Profits from Oliver's book will go to AIDS United and the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention organization for LGBTQ youth.

Marlon may not be fixing this country's political divide entirely, but it's nice to see differences being smoothed over by a bunny.
