Vice President-elect Mike Pence was roundly booed by the audience when he saw Hamilton on Friday night. And the cast had a statement for him after curtain call.

As the hit musical ended, actor Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr, read a message to Pence as he was escorted out of the theater.

Dixon first politely discouraged the audience from booing. "There's nothing to boo here," he said. "We're all here sharing a story of love."

Dixon then spoke directly to Pence, asking him and President-elect Donald Trump to create an inclusive administration.

"We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable right," he said. "We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us."

According to the New York Times, Pence was standing just outside the theater entrance when Dixon spoke and could hear his remarks.

Hamilton, a wildly successful and critically acclaimed Broadway musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda, celebrates immigrants and features a consciously multicultural cast. The current cast also includes several LGBT performers, including Javier Munoz, who plays Alexander Hamilton.

Munoz is HIV-positive. Pence faced criticism for his inaction while the governor of Indiana during an HIV outbreak in the state.

UPDATE: Nov. 19, 2016, 3:29 p.m. EST According to the New York Times, the statement Dixon read to Pence was written by Miranda, director Thomas Kail and lead producer Jeffrey Seller, with additional input from cast members.
