Miley Cyrus announces on Instagram she prefers Hindu prayers to the Super Bowl
Miley Cyrus pleasantly surprised her Indian fans this morning when she shared a photo of a Lakshmi Puja setup she was a part of. The photo shows a priest conducting the ceremony.
She's apparently offering prayers to the Hindu Goddess of wealth, who's typically worshiped across Indian homes during the festival of Diwali.
Miley cheekily captioned the picture '#FruitBowl over Super.... #offering' indicating her preferences on the day gripped by NFL buzz.
The photo shows a makeshift prayer area replete with incense sticks, a fruit bowl, sweets, candles, lamps, flowers and so on. Framed photographs of (most likely) Miley's spiritual gurus can also be seen.
Another post revealed flower petals, mattresses and colorful cushions strewn across the floor of what is reportedly her hotel room in Mysore in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.
Miley's spiritual inclinations have surfaced before. In 2012, she made news for getting an 'Om' tattoo on her left arm. The Om is a popular Hindu symbol and her fans speculated if she would start practising Hinduism.
Miley is slated to perform in India in May in the city of Nagpur, about 500 miles from the entertainment capital of Mumbai. And giving her company would be teen sensation Justin Bieber.
