Ballerina Misty Copeland will dance on the silver screen in Disney's new 'Nutcracker' movie
Ballet is coming to the big screen.
Misty Copeland, principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, just announced on Instagram that she'll be starring in the upcoming Disney movie The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.
Copeland, the first African-American woman to be promoted to principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, couldn't be more qualified to dance in the classic tale. She toured with Prince as a dancer, she appeared on So You Think You Can Dance and she performed in the musical On the Town on Broadway.

"I’m thrilled to be a part of this amazing project with Disney and the wonderful Lasse Hallstrom," Copeland wrote on Instagram, along with a photo of the script.
According to Deadline, Copeland will star as the lead ballerina in the film’s only dance sequence.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms will be directed by Lasse Hallstrom and written by Ashleigh Powell. Its release date has not yet been announced.
