Moby's new video has a message for 'unevolved, feral, self-interested man-baby' Trump
Sorry, Donald Trump, but Moby won't DJ an inauguration ball for you. He has other plans.
The musician, who has been a vocal critic of the president-elect on social media, knew it was a dire situation when he got an offer. "I feel like at this point, they’re probably trolling karaoke bars to find someone who will sing at the inauguration," he told Mashable.
And now, just ahead of what is promising to be the least relevant concert in all of history, Moby and the Void Pacific Choir have released a politically charged video for "Errupt & Matter" off their 2016 album, These Systems Are Failing.
The video juxtaposes footage of world leaders with the protests they inspired in an effort to drive home the point that liberal complacency is no longer an option.
"I would love to be alive in a world where art could be superfluous. I would love to be alive in a world where we weren’t facing dire existential crises, political crises, environment crises, health crises," he said. "I don’t want to indulge in too much hyperbole, but the world is falling apart."
Moby stresses how critical it is for artists and anyone with a platform to avoid gratuitous self-promotion and materialism. "Those things would be fine if the world weren’t an inch away from collapse."

So that's why, after laughing at the invitation DJ Trump's ball, he then realized he could use it as an opportunity to shed light on the fact that Trump still hasn't released his tax returns, so they must reveal "really gnarly, dark stuff." So he trolled the president-elect with a playlist and said he'd take the gig if Trump comes clean about his finances.
"We have no idea what’s going to be motivating his decisions. And because he is this un-evolved, feral, self-interested man-baby, we can just assume that the decisions he’s going to make are decisions that benefit him and his family," Moby explained. "I also think he’s embarrassed, because I don’t think he’s really worth as much as he makes himself out to be."
If he sees any silver lining, it's that artists and progressives are energized as they realize what's at stake, "Just because we’ve grown up with certain freedoms doesn’t mean they’re always going to be there."
