'Modern Lovers,' a summer love story with a very Brooklyn twist, is our next MashReads pick

So writes Emma Straub in her new book Modern Lovers, our next choice for MashReads's social book club here at Mashable.

Modern Lovers follows two families -- longtime friends and former college bandmates -- each confronting various crossroads in their friendships and marriages. There's Zoe and Jane, who are struggling to decide if they should stay together or not, and Elizabeth and Andrew, who are uncovering ghosts from their past while Andrew is in the midst of a midlife crisis.

But navigating their daily life is further complicated when a mysterious yoga studio pops up in the neighborhood and each family's child -- Ruby and Harry -- start hanging out more and more, resulting in what may be a modern day Romeo and Juliet story with a very Brooklyn twist.
