Try not to cry looking at this sad baby monkey hugging a teddy bear

"Keep Wildlife Wild and Not as Pets!!!"

Sometimes, you just need to hug a teddy bear when you have a rough day.

This baby monkey named Mongkood knows just what that's like.

According to a Facebook post from the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand, Mongkood (which means 'crown') is a two-month-old Northern pig-tailed macaque, a species classified "vulnerable" on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species list. Just last week, he was rescued from being poached -- but not before he witnessed the killing of his mother.

We know -- this sounds just like a heartbreaking Disney film, IRL.

"Little Mongkood is still bewildered and confused as where his mother has gone. He is still crying for his mothers’ care and love, scared and unsure of what his future holds," the foundation wrote, before adding that Mongkood is under 24-hour care for now, and not be traded or sold as a pet.

According to the Foundation, these monkeys face a lot of adversity.

"In Thailand, the males of this species are exploited for picking coconuts by the industry. Sometimes, a well-trained macaque is sold for 1,000USD," they wrote. "They are also in demand by resorts and other tourist attractions for inhumane circus style shows."

"We will do everything we can to make his transition to life in captivity as stress free as we can....Keep Wildlife Wild and Not as Pets!!!"
