The Smiths was once the anti-establishment angst band of teenage dreams, and now they're getting into something slightly less cool -- city politics.

Legendary frontman Morrissey just announced on his site, True to You, that he was considering a run for mayor of London. Morrissey is an long-time activist in Britain's Animal Welfare Party. According to Morrissey, the party invited him to be their candidate and he's strongly considering it. While Morrissey doesn't have that much experience in managing city systems, or running a powerful bureaucracy, he is very, very famous.

Here's a condensed version of his platform from the site.

"Animal welfare groups cannot persist simply in order to continue to persist. There must be a governmental voice against the hellish and archaic social injustice allotted to animals in the United Kingdom simply because those animals do not speak English, otherwise millions of very caring citizens are greatly concerned about issues that no one is able to do anything about."

The longer the post goes on, the more absurdly violent it becomes.

"Animals in dairy farms and abattoirs are very eager not to die, yet their bodies are torn apart whilst still alive as they are strapped beneath a blade. No outcome can justify this, and we cannot be happy with a society that allows it to happen, because such a society without compassion goes nowhere. The abattoir is the modern continuation of the Nazi concentration camp, and if you are a part of the milk-drinking population, then you condone systems of torture."

Not everyone will agree that if you drink milk, you're essentially a waterboarder -- but a man is entitled to his opinion. Morrissey, a vegetarian-turned-vegan, needs just 330 signatures to get on the ballot. Prospects for the "milk is murder" campaign may seem (thankfully) dim, but if there's anyone who can do it -- it's him.
