10 times high schoolers had the most extra promposals

How many ping pong balls can fit in a high school locker?

You can't just ask someone to prom. If you really want to go to the biggest event of high school with them, promposing is a whole production -- it's about as much effort, if not more, as a marriage proposal.

For many, prom itself isn't necessarily the highlight of their high school career. It's the promposal.

From fiery signs to nerdy equations, here are ten creative, over-the-top promposals high schoolers have come up with in the last few years.

1. The guy who filled a locker with 500 ping pong balls

Kaelen Walsh asked his girlfriend of a year and a half to prom by writing "Prom?" on 500 ping pong balls and stuffing them all in her locker. When the unsuspecting senior opened it, hundreds of balls poured out.

Although Walsh's girlfriend Rebekka seemed happy, we have to wonder about the poor soul that has to clean 500 ping pong balls out of the hallway.

2. The student who surprised his date dressed as a chicken nugget

As the old saying goes, the way to a man's heart (or anyone's really) is through their stomach. Oregon high schooler Kennedy Sundberg embarked on fast food scavenger hunt and found her date reclining in a bathtub, dressed as a (slightly terrifying) deep fried snack. They sat under a sign that asked, "will you be the chick(en) to my nugget at prom?"

All in all, 140 nuggets were involved in this promposal.

3. When this teen promposed wearing a fur suit

Redditor u/_moobear asked his girlfriend to prom while ironically wearing a fur suit. He held a sign that said "I love you fur real. Prom?"

Note: furry costumes are not cheap, and usually sell for hundreds of dollars. When one frequenter of r/teenagers asked how he obtained the suit, u/_moobear responded, "Poor financial decision making."

Although she was thoroughly embarrassed, his girlfriend still said yes.

4. The teen that implemented the use of cute farm animals

We just want to know: where do high schoolers have access to baby goats?

Redditor u/hot_stuff_rob asked his girlfriend to prom with her favorite animal: a baby goat. He hung a sign around the goat's neck that asked, "PRAAAAM?"

He explained in the comments that his friend raised goats, and one of them recently had kids. His girlfriend said yes, because who could say no to a baby goat?

5. This girl asked her boyfriend to prom by helping him clean his Jeep

Instagrammer @shelby_lake asked her significant other to prom with mud. After going mudding in her Jeep, Shelby wrote out "PROM?" on the splattered windows. "He said yess," she posted, adding #redneck to the caption.

It's pretty cute, but who's cleaning it up?

6. This dude took a more permanent approach

In other car themed promposals, someone really messed up with this one. Someone spray painted "PROM?" on a white car. Vine user Bethany, who posted this without any details, caught a very angry woman trying to rub the paint off of the white car.

Whoever asked probably didn't think this through.

7. The way to anyone's heart is with a giant fortune cookie

This one gets points for both creativity and an easy clean-up. @jessnhantran tweeted this video of her promposal, where she was asked by a giant paper fortune cookie. The cookie tore in half and revealed its fortune: "Prom?"

Jess seemed pretty happy about it, tweeting, "honestly it cant get any better than this!"

8. This teen got extra nerdy with a math-inspired promposal

Twitter user @SamBenitez07 had a pretty nerdy promposal. Her boyfriend plugged an equation into a TI-84 calculator, creating a graph that plotted out PROM. She loved it.

"The level of extra my boyfriend did for this promposal made it 10x cuter," she wrote.

9. The most extreme example may be this hot prompt

Leon Angeles recorded this fiery promposal and tweeted the video. Someone asked a girl to prom with a traditional Polynesian fire dance. Then he set fire to a sign that asked "PROM?"

10. The National Park Service did not love this graffiti promposal at all

Last year, an overzealous high schooler asked someone to prom by spray painting it on a large boulder. They overlooked a huge problem: that boulder is near Sandstone Peak in the Santa Monica Mountains, which is a national recreation area.

It's not the first time someone desecrated public land for a promposal. In 2015, someone spray-painted "DESTINY, PROM?" on a cliff in Idaho that's sacred to the surrounding Native American tribes.

Don't try this one at home. Vandalizing public land can carry a fine of up to $10,000 and a three year jail sentence.
