Det. Munch is clocking back into Law & Order: SVU.

Munch, portrayed as always by Richard Belzer, is set to appear in a May episode that centers on a young model who accuses a famous fashion photographer of assault -- a plot that sounds not unlike the claims hurled against photog Terry Richardson, who has denied similar accusations. EW first reported the news.

Belzer left the series in 2013 after 21 years of playing the character, who first appeared on Homicide: Life on the Street and quickly became a fan favorite for his acerbic wit.

Det. Munch has also crossed over into other shows, including The X-Files, The Wire and Arrested Development.

The announcement of Munch's return comes during a season where NBC's stalwart procedural continues not only to perform strongly but also to grow its audience year-over-year. It is currently in Season 17.

Law and Order: SVU airs Wednesdays on NBC.
