Of all the museums that could be trending on social media, you probably wouldn't expect to see The Museum of English Rural Life (or the MERL, as it's apparently called) popping up on Twitter.

But after posting a picture of this "absolute unit" of a ram, the official MERL twitter found itself rocketing to internet fame.

People were floored by this particularly wooly ram, which had racked up more than 15,000 likes at the time of this post.

Once the MERL noticed its popularity, they indulged it.

And kept indulging in it...

This wooly ram is serving as a force of unity in a much-divided world.

The power of the wooly lamb has brought in all sorts of people.

And apparently, with an influx of Twitter followers comes an influx of sheep-based puns.

The popularity apparently became too much for their social media person.

The Museum of English Rural Life is open to its new fans and encourages them to get to know the museum.

And to acknowledge the "absolute unit" that landed them the attention of the internet in the first place, they posted this lovely gif.

Though English rural life doesn't always scream EXCITEMENT to the average Twitter user, today has proved that the internet always has the power to surprise us. Here's hoping more "absolute units" make appearances soon.
