Women of all faiths and backgrounds came together on London's Westminster Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

With hands linked, they stood and bowed their heads at 4 p.m. in a vigil following the terror attack by Briton Khalid Masood on Wednesday that left four people dead close by.

The event was organised by the Women's March in London organisers, who on Twitter asked participants to stand for five minutes in solidarity with victims of the attack, but also to "resist forces of fear and division."

"It was so quiet and impromptu; just for a moment everyone was still. It was very emotional," Reverend Anna Macham told The Guardian.

"I was so shocked by events this week and I wanted to stand alongside my Muslim sisters and show that what unites us is greater than what divides us."

Powerful images of the vigil were shared widely on social media, where it has received plenty of attention despite the quietness of the gathering.

"Had no idea our low key solidarity event would make front page. Was a very moving tribute to victims," participant Akeela Ahmed said on Twitter.
