That 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' revival is headed to Netflix
It started out as a Kickstarter campaign, but the newly revived Mystery Science Theater 3000 is now headed to Netflix.
The series will debut soon in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and features a mix of old faces from the original series along with some newcomers.
Creator Joel Hodgson will serve as a writer and executive producer, with Mary Jo Pehl (Pearl Forrester), Bill Corbett (Crow T. Robot/Brain Guy) and Kevin Murphy (Tom Servo/Professor Bobo) all reprising earlier roles. Though it sounds like a new cast will be front and center.

Patton Oswalt is also on board, as Son of TV's Frank ("TV's Frank" is a character from the original MST3K). Comedians Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn round out the cast as the voices of the two robot hecklers.
The lineup of ace comedic voices extends beyond the camera as well. Elliott Kalan, former head writer of The Daily Show, takes the same role on the MST3K revival. And working alongside him are Dan Harmon and Joel McHale, of Community fame.
The revived Mystery Science Theater 3000 should follow the same format as the original. Jonah is forced to watch an endless string of B-movies -- which he and his fellow watchers heckle continuously -- as part of Kinga's misguided bid to take over the world.
The Kickstarter originally sought $2 million to pay for three episodes, but managed to cover a 12-episode stretch goal when the campaign closed at $5.7 million.
