It's called Napercise.

Today in ridiculous ways people spend their money, a gym in the UK is offering napping classes for adults who don't get enough sleep. Yes, this is a class where you pay to sleep in a room with a bunch of strangers for 45 minutes.

The 60-minute class at David Lloyd Clubs is called Napercise. It starts and finishes with a series of tension-releasing stretches, and promises a solid 45 minutes of uninterrupted sleep at an ideal temperature for napping. The gym will provide each participant its own bed, blanket, and eye mask.

The class is designed to "reinvigorate the mind, improve moods, and even burn the odd calorie," though we're not convinced that taking a 45-minute snooze with 15 minutes of stretching is going to burn enough calories to make any difference.

While ridiculous, sure, it's good for people to get in some extra shuteye. According to a study from the Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, participants that took a 45-minute nap in the middle of their day handled stress better than those who didn't. Another study from UC Berkeley found that an afternoon nap could boost the brain's learning capacity.

A trial run of the classes will be held this weekend at the David Lloyd location is Sidcup, and if the classes are successful, the gyms will consider rolling it out to its other clubs across the UK.
