When it comes to popularity, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems way ahead of the U.S. President Barack Obama and even Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Modi topped the online reader’s poll for TIME's "Person of the Year," garnering 18 percent of the votes, the magazine revealed Monday. The magazine will announce its editorial choice for "Person of the Year" on Dec. 7.

In comparison, Obama, Donald Trump, and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange each received 7 percent of the votes, followed by Hillary Clinton, who managed 4 percent of the votes, and Zuckerberg, with 2 percent of approval from the people.

  • North Korea dictator Kim Jong-un

TIME didn’t share exactly how many votes any of the individuals received, nor the total number of votes that were cast, but it noted that Modi performed particularly well among Indians.

Modi’s impressive lead comes in the wake of his bold decision to invalidate much of the paper cash in India. At 8 p.m. on Nov. 8, in a surprise televised address to the nation, Modi announced that Rs 500 ($7.5) and Rs 1,000 ($15) bills, which accounted for over 85 percent of the paper money supply, would be useless overnight.

Though the move caused a fair amount of trouble for citizens, many agreed that it was necessary to curb the black money (unreported income and transactions) often linked to corruption.

Indians seemed pleased with the TIME's finding, though a few expressed their disapproval.
