Sci-fi fans, brace yourselves for some good news.

Six brand-new episodes of Black Mirror, the dark and dystopian show created by British writer Charlie Brooker, will be released at once on October 21 - sooner than initially thought - on Netflix.

A cryptic tweet from the show's official Twitter handle announced the release date:

Originally produced by Channel 4 in the UK, the show covers various topics loosely inter-connected by a bleak vision of the modern society and its use of technology.

Each episode has a different storyline and a different cast. A Christmas special in 2014 featured Mad Men star Jon Hamm.

For Season 3, executive producer Brooker and Annabel Jones revealed they collaborated with actress Rashida Jones (The Office U.S., Parks and Recreation) and producer Mike Schrur to write one episode.

Dan Trachtenberg, director of 10 Cloverfield Lane, wrote another: video gamed-themed episode ('Playtest'). Bafta-nominated James Hawes will be directing "Hated in the Nation."

Over the past few years, the show has become a cultural reference for many people who drew eerie parallels between the show and political developments.

“This year is free publicity for our show,” Brooker told Variety. “People are always coming up to me and saying ‘That’s a bit Black Mirror’, [with] the situation we’re finding ourselves in across the globe. I don’t think there’s anything where we thought we should’ve gone further.”

“I didn’t see Pokémon Go coming," he said in reference to the popular game.
