LOS ANGELES -- Netflix has upped its movie library just in time for summer.

The Los Gatos-based streaming giant announced in its blog Monday that over a dozen titles -- ranging from Spotlight to The Wedding Planner -- will be added to the platform over the next few months.

But buried at the bottom of the release was perhaps the most significant addition to the platform: Disney films.

"From September onwards, Netflix will become the exclusive U.S. pay TV home of the latest films from Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar," Ted Sarandos, Netflix's head of content, wrote.

The exact titles were not yet announced, but given Disney's vast library, one can assume that means a wide variety of offerings.

"Many of our long time U.S. members might recognize that summer is a time when we refresh a large part of our film catalogue," Sarandos said, citing a 20% increase in movie watching by members in the U.S. around Memorial Day weekend. "This year is no exception, but there is one difference; a batch of non-exclusive titles are leaving while what is arriving is exclusive to Netflix among streaming subscription video services."

The news comes just as Hulu and Amazon began upping their movie libraries.

The streaming wars continue.
