Netflix's 'The Ranch' trailer teases multi-cam Ashton Kutcher comedy
The trailer for Netflix's The Ranch starts out with spooky Western music and Sam Elliot's gravelly narration. It seems almost like the show will be a House of Cards for the frontier -- which would be a bold choice for lead actor Ashton Kutcher.
But that illusion is dismantled about 30 seconds in, when Kutcher and Elliot occupy a dining table as father and son in a familiar sitcom scene you've seen countless times before. The Ranch looks and sounds exactly like a classic American multi-cam comedy, but with swearing because Netflix.

Kutcher plays Colt, a former football star and small-town darling who comes home to help his father Beau (Elliot) take care of the family ranch. Together with his brother (Kutcher's That '70s Show costar Danny Masterson), Colt tries his hand at running the family business.
The Colorado town in the trailer is also home to Happy Endings' Elisha Cuthbert and at least one glimpse at Friday Night Lights' Aimee Teegarden, who plays another small town girl with a penchant for football players.
The Ranch begins streaming on Netflix April 1.
