Apple is reportedly dropping several new iPads — three to be exact — in the near future. And honestly, it's about time the Cupertino-based tech giant refreshed its popular tablets. We haven't seen new iPad releases since last fall, which included the iPad Pro with the M2 chip as well as the 10th-generation iPad.

However, according to 9to5Mac, this will change very soon. According to its sources, Apple is planning to drop a handful of iPad models in the "coming months."

Which iPads are reportedly underway?

If you've been itching to upgrade your iPads, you're in luck. As mentioned, Apple is reportedly planning to roll out several new tablets very soon. Let's take a quick look at which iPads the Cupertino-based tech giant are working on behind the scenes.

iPad mini 7

A new iPad mini 7 may be one of the first new models on the horizon, per 9to5Mac's sources. Unfortunately, they didn't confirm a release window. But this rumor aligns with Apple anaylst Ming-Chi Kuo's early January post, which claims that the next iPad mini is poised to be released in early 2024. Respected X leaker ShrimpApplePro also hinted that the iPad mini 7 is near in a series of August tweets.

Don't expect any major design changes to the iPad mini 7. It should, however, come with faster internals.

iPad 11

9to5Mac claims that the successor to the iPad 10 should be on our radar. Apple has been reportedly running tests on the next-generation, entry-level tablet. It's codenamed "J126b." Sources say that iPad 11, like the iPad mini 7, will only get spec upgrades. If you need a refresher, the iPad 10 received a small design change to bring it closer to the iPad Air. It also came with a USB-C port as well as an A14 Bionic chip

iPad Air 6

The rumors surrounding the new iPad Air are a little bit more exciting. Two variants of the iPad Air may be coming. Keep in mind that the only model that has more than one version is the iPad Pro. It comes in 11-inch and 12.9-inch display sizes. There's a possibility that Apple could do something similar with the iPad Air. Or, according to 9to5Mac, Apple may introduce another expensive tier with better specs.

New iPad Pro

The next-generation iPad Pro is expected to be packed with a new M3 chip. According to reliable Apple leaker Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the upcoming iPad Pro models will feature OLED panels — the same displays Apple have been using on the iPhone since 2017. "They are crisper and brighter, and reproduce colors more accurately," Gurman claims.

They are also expected to come in two sizes: 11 inches and 13 inches. (The current model offers a 12.9-inch variant, which will likely be replaced by the 13-inch model).

Keep an eye out for these new iPads later this year and in the first quarter of 2024.
