New York Times issues correction after mishap with 'Millennials to Snake People' Chrome extension
Still using that "Millennials to Snake People" Chrome extension? Here's a PSA: remember to turn it off if you're writing a piece for the New York Times.
In what is perhaps my favorite editorial correction ever (okay, fine, nothing will top Pimpin4Paradise786), the Times clarified Wednesday that its reference to "the Time of Shedding and Cold Rocks" in a fact-check of President Trump's claims on trade was accidental.
Turns out, a staffer had left their "Millennials to Snake People" extension on -- and because the quote (which originally said "Great Recession") was copied and pasted from another Times piece, it was published undetected.

The correction itself was later updated to add a friendly pro-tip:
Because of an editing error involving a satirical text-swapping web browser extension, an earlier version of this article misquoted a passage from an article by the Times reporter Jim Tankersley. The sentence referred to America’s narrowing trade deficit during “the Great Recession,” not during “the Time of Shedding and Cold Rocks.” (Pro tip: Disable your “Millennials to Snake People” extension when copying and pasting.)
A silver living to this reptilian madness, though: it'll definitely get more eyes on the article. Maybe Taylor Swift will even read it!
