Since Nick Thune's last special debuted on Netflix, a lot has changed. Most notably: The comedian had a kid.

"It changes your life obviously because you don't sleep as much and you have some maniac that lives in your house," he told Mashable. "It made life more important to me, and changed my perspective on the world."

The new life mentality helped shape and inspire his new special Nick Thune: Good Guy, which debuted on NBC's Seeso platform on Thursday.

"I think a lot of people go through this when they find out they are going to have a kid," Thune said. "They decide, ‘Man I can’t make the same shitty choices all the time how do I minimize all those experiences I have been having?’ I think this came through in this special. That’s what it’s about really."

The special, filmed in Portland, Oregon, in October, was a natural extension of Thune's stand-up.

"It felt like the right time to do a second one," he said. And Seeso, he felt, "is a cool place for comedy."

The ad-free service, which costs $3.99 per month, features original content as well as previously broadcast TV series and late-night shows geared toward comedy nerds.

It's home to a handful of originals including The Cyanide & Happiness Show (based on the popular web comic) and The UCB Show (from hosts, creators and Upright Citizens Brigade founders Amy Poehler, Matt Walsh, Ian Roberts and Matt Besser). The platform also features stand-up comedy specials such as Cameron Esposito's Marriage Material.

NBC's library of comedy shows — such as 30 Rock and 40-plus years of Saturday Night Live — is available, plus a slew of Monty Python material.

Streaming services have long been popular homes for comedy specials.

"I think some people don't know they like this type of content until they watch whatever they want to watch on a streaming service and then stumble on a stand-up special."

As far as how he feels about this particular special?

"I think it's gonna put an Oscar on my shelf," he joked. "It's probably one of the best things ever made."
