Walmart will have Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in stock on Wednesday night, but you'll need to clear one hurdle first before attempting to get one.

Before we get into that, though, some necessary context: The Switch 2 has been a runaway success, breaking Nintendo's own hardware sales record in the first four days it was on store shelves. Alas, because this is just how these things go, it hasn't been easy for everyone who wants a Switch 2 to get a Switch 2. That's why these retailer restocks are important.

Walmart announced the restock on the Switch 2 product listing page:

As I mentioned earlier, there's a step you can and should take to increase your chances of getting a Switch 2 from Walmart on Wednesday night. Starting at 9 p.m. ET, Walmart+ members get an hour's head start to purchase Switch 2 units. Walmart is selling both the Switch 2 console itself and the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle, which gives you discounted access to Mario Kart World. It's possible you'll be able to get one without signing up for Walmart+, but we fully expect Walmart to sell out in the early-access hour.

How much is Walmart+?

Walmart+ is either $12.95/mo or $98/year, but there is a free 30-day trial you can sign up for. Theoretically, you can start the free trial, buy a Switch 2 using the one-hour head start, and then just cancel the free trial once your Switch 2 arrives, before you're charged for another month.

That said...Walmart's anti-Prime Day sale is coming up, starting on July 8. If you want, you can hang onto your membership until then and sweep up some sweet deals, and then cancel it. The world is your oyster.

Good luck getting a Switch 2, friends.
