Organisers at a roadshow were demonstrating the Nissan's collision avoidance feature when the accident happened.

A Nissan spokesperson told Mashable that it was aware of the incident, which it said involved "a member of the event staff."

"Fortunately, the individual was only slightly injured and has been released from hospital following a comprehensive health check," the spokesperson said. "Dongfeng Nissan is working with the dealer and the organizer to fully investigate the incident."

The roadshow's organisers also put out a statement, saying that the accident occured due to "operator error." "We are deeply sorry over problems in operation and management, which led to this event," the statement read. "We will tighten our control and management of this situation, so this will not happen again."

The Nissan X-Trail is equipped with an Intelligent Brake Assist system, which automatically sounds an alarm when it detects a potential collision. The car will also automatically brake to prevent a rear-end collision.

In 2015, a Volvo which was thought to have a have a pedestrian detection feature slammed into two people in the Dominican Republic:

The pedestrian detection feature had not been included in the Volvo, as it was sold separately, according to a Volvo spokesperson. The two men hit were "bruised but okay".
