Nokia made a big comeback this year with the retro reboot of the legendary 3310 dumbphone, but its lineup of Android phones — Nokia 3, 5 and 6 — wasn't that exciting.

This could change with the company's upcoming flagship called the Nokia 8, and we may have just gotten our first glimpse of the new device.

Prolific leaker of all things phone-related, Evan Blass, has tweeted an image of the Nokia 8, showing the blue variant of the device from both sides.

Blass followed up with an image of the same device in a different color, grey.

The photos tell us quite a bit. The device will have a vertically lined-up dual-rear camera with Zeiss-branded optics, and a fingerprint scanner/home button combo on the front. The screen looks to be slightly curved at the edges, but it's not one of those new ultra-wide screens that adorn most high-profile flagships these days.

Rumors say that the phone will have a 5.3-inch screen, a Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4/6GB of RAM and Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The dual cameras on the back will have 13-megapixel sensors.

According to VentureBeat, the phone is slated for a July 31 launch, with a likely retail price of about $675.

The rights to the Nokia name were acquired by Finnish company HMD Global in 2016, and the brand is hard at work to re-establish some of its former glory. The Nokia 8 is an important step on that journey. While these specs aren't exactly unheard of, this is the company's first true flagship in the company's new era.
