Well, that escalated quickly.

Former Trump aide Sam Nunberg called into both MSNBC and CNN today to talk about his refusal to comply with a subpoena issued to him in connection with Robert Mueller's investigation. In two jaw-dropping interviews that stunned the political world (and probably Nunberg's lawyer), Nunberg, who was fired by the Trump campaign in August 2015, revealed he had no plans to cooperate with Mueller -- a stunt that will most likely end up with him in jail.

Besides complaining about how much time it would take him to dig through his emails (as the subpoena requires), he also let it drop that Mueller may have something on Trump, though he was unable to identify precisely what that was. Hmm.

Here are just a few of the most breathtaking quotes.

Nunberg to MSNBC's Katy Tur:

"I think that he [Trump] may have done something during the election," adding, "I don't know that for sure."

"I'm not going to cooperate when they want me to ... come into a grand jury, for them to insinuate that Roger Stone was colluding with Julian Assange."

Nunberg to CNN's Gloria Berger:

"Trump may have very well done something during the election with Russians"

"Mueller thinks Trump is the Manchurian Candidate, and I will tell you I disagree with that."

At one point, Nunberg even went so far as to ask Katy Tur about what she thought Robert Mueller was going to do to him.

I don't know the answer to that Sam, though I will say that calling MSNBC in the middle of the day to ask that question probably isn't your best bet.

Watch and wonder, as there's really no telling how many other stations he'll want to chit-chat with through the evening.

UPDATE: March 5, 2018, 3:16 p.m. PST Nunberg later appeared on NY1 where he called Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders a "joke" and "fat slob."

UPDATE: March 5, 2018, 5:09 p.m. PST Nunberg next appeared on CNN Monday evening, where anchor Erin Burnett claimed she smelled alcohol on his breath.

"I have not had a drink," Nunberg insisted.

Burnett asked if he had consumed "anything else," to which Nunberg replied "no," adding the only drug he had taken were his prescribed antidepressants.
