Fresh from kicking off driverless trials in Singapore, Nutonomy is headed home to Boston to test its autonomous vehicles there.

The company has already obtained permission, and will run its cars at an unspecified date in the Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park industrial area, reports Recode.

The self-driving car startup was an MIT spinout, and for the past six months has been at a tech business park in Singapore trying to get its cars roadworthy.

However, a trial started in late-September that included members of the public, was abruptly cut short after just a month, when one of its driverless cars collided with a lorry while attempting to change lanes.

Nutonomy has been pretty hush about how the accident occurred, but said at the time it had disclosed all the data it could to Singapore authorities.

The aim for the Boston trial is slightly different from Singapore's. The initial phase will see only Nutonomy engineers riding the vehicles, and the idea is for Nutonomy's cars to learn Boston's traffic signals and navigation.

The Singapore trial was done as a tie-up with ride-hailing app Grab, and allowed people to call a driverless car to their location.
