Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has only been in office for four months, but it's clear that he and President Obama are already on the same wavelength.

Case in point: They seem to already have an inside joke about that whole moving to Canada thing.

During a press conference on Thursday morning, as part of Trudeau's visit to the U.S., the pair exchanged knowing glances and a little giggle about the ongoing commentary by many liberal Americans who say they plan to move to Canada if Donald Trump is elected president.

Obama didn't mention Trump by name, but he didn't really have to.

"Every time we have a presidential election, our friends to the north have to brace for an exodus of Americans who swear they will move to Canada"

"Every time we have a presidential election, our friends to the north have to brace for an exodus of Americans who swear they will move to Canada if the guy from the other party wins," Obama joked as he looked up with a wry smile.

"But typically it turns out fine," he said while the pair exchanged glances and knowingly nodded their heads, before he paused and drew laughter from the crowd.

Obama later clarified his statement, saying the threats of an American exodus to Canada comes around every election cycle.

"I am absolutely certain that in 2012, when there was a threat that I was going to be reelected, there were people that were threatening to go to Canada," Obama said.

Later in the press conference, Trudeau managed to expertly dodge a pointed question from a reporter who asked if a Trump presidency would hurt ties between Canada and the U.S.

"I have tremendous confidence in the American people and look forward to working with whoever they choose to send to the White House later this year," Trudeau said.

Google searches for "How to move to Canada" surged in the hours after Trump won primaries in seven states on Super Tuesday.
