Winning a Tony is a monumental achievement, but earning a thumbs up from the leader of the free world is pretty good, too.

Barack and Michelle Obama appeared on video to introduce a live Hamilton performance at the Tony Awards on Sunday. Viewers everywhere swooned as America's delightfully nerdy president sang the praises of America's nerdiest musical.

"Hamilton has become not only a smash hit, but a civics lesson our kids can't get enough off," President Obama says, before launching into an emotional defense of the play.
