'Made in America': The scintillating trailer for ESPN's O.J. Simpson doc
The People vs. O. J. Simpson miniseries on FX has been lauded by audiences and critics alike. Deservedly so. The show offers a detailed, dramatized look at America's trial of the century, which doubled as arguably our country's first reality TV spectacle.
In the process, The People vs. O.J. lays bare the trial's deep-seeded racial tensions -- tensions that are still prevalent in the U.S. today.

Want more Juice? There's more O.J. content coming down the pike, this time in the form of an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary called O.J.: Made in America. The seven-and-a-half-hour doc widens the scope of The People vs. O.J., focusing not just on the murder trial, but his entire arc, NFL celebrity, place in American racial politics and life since being found not guilty of killing Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.
Made in America doesn't premiere until June. But ESPN just dropped the teaser trailer below, and it looks fantastic.
Just from the two-minute teaser, seeing archival footage of Simpson himself is mildly jarring if you watched him as portrayed by Cuba Gooding Jr. in The People vs. O.J. The trailer above also hints at a much deeper dive into the racial politics that defense attorney Johnnie Cochran leveraged as part of a successful defense. Those are just two examples of what have us so excited about this massive project.
The People vs. O.J. deserves all the praise it's getting. But after seeing this trailer, it seems we may have only finished the appetizer, with the main course -- Made in America -- yet to come.
