O.J. Simpson is about to be a free man (again)
O.J. Simpson, the former football legend turned Hollywood star, has been granted parole.
The former star football player became infamous while on trial for the 1995 murder of his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and waiter Ron Goldman. Though he was acquitted in that trial — which generated a media frenzy and an enormous public reaction — Simpson was later convicted of armed robbery and assault after leading a group in a robbery of a Las Vegas casino in 2007. (He claims he was only trying to get back memorabilia that had been taken from him.)
A parole board in Nevada decided Simpson should be released in October, having served time behind bars since 2008.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you," Simpson said as the board announced their decision.

Simpson's life has been plastered all over TV screens since the '90s. Most recently, the tale of his infamous trail was turned into the critically acclaimed drama The People v. O.J. Simpson, which went on to win nine Primetime Emmys. ESPN also produced O.J.: Made in America, a five-part documentary on the former football star that won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
