LONDON -- If there's one thing that whole Boaty McBoatface saga taught us, it's that the public can never, ever be trusted.

Yep. On Wednesday night, Oldham Council tweeted a picture of their brand new, bright yellow gritter. They wanted the public to help them come up with a name for it.

Unfortunately the competition rules state that only "children who live in Oldham or attend Oldham Primary School" can enter, so most of the entries above -- as glorious as they are -- sadly won't count.
Still, it's always nice to see a community come together.
