China's Oppo has a new smartphone out, and it's a pretty good wrap up to an extremely intense fall which saw about a dozen high-profile phone launches.

The Oppo R17 Pro (it's called RX17 Pro in Europe) has a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with a very small notch on the front, a shiny, colorful design on the back, an under-the-display fingerprint sensor and triple rear cameras.

But it also has a few surprises under the hood.

The triple camera array is a bit different than what you're used to. It consists of a 12-megapixel and a 20-megapixel sensor, coupled with a TOF 3D stereo camera which lets you take 3D photos, a trend that appears to be making a re-emergence this year.

The "standard" two cameras also have a few interesting features, including a F1.5/F2.4 "smart aperture" which changes aperture automatically according to light conditions. The phone will also use AI tech to get best results in low light, and Oppo calls the resulting feature "Ultra Night Mode".

The phone is the first to be adorned with the latest Gorilla Glass 6 display. It also has two 1,850mAh battery cells instead of one, which allows for some very fast charging (Oppo is already leading the way in this regard; its F9 smartphone had the fastest-charging battery I've ever tested). Oppo claims the phone can be charged to 40% in 10 minutes.

Other specs of note include the mid-rangey Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chip, 6 or 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage (expandable via microSD cards). Software-wise, the phone has Android 8.1 Oreo coupled with Oppo's ColorOS 5.2.

Oppo R17 Pro comes to Europe on Nov. 16 for the price of 599 euros ($687).
