The Orlando Gay Chorus sang special versions of "True Colors" as well as "You'll Never Walk Alone" at a prayer vigil in the city Sunday. The performances were to honour the 50 people that were killed at the Pulse gay nightclub the previous evening.

The chorus, which consists of people who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight, performed Cyndi Lauper's classic and the tune from the musical Carousel, which was also recorded by Gerry and the Pacemakers among others, in a moving rendition at the Joy Metropolitan Community Church, Orlando.

During the evening, the Rev Dr Nancy Wilson called for a ban of assault weapons before the Orlando Gay Chorus took to the stage, saying: “Hate tried, but love wins.”
