Oscar Isaac to join long list of hot guys who star in 'Hamlet'
Fangirls, rejoice! Following in the footsteps of Ethan Hawke, David Tennant, Benedict Cumberbatch and a cartoon lion, everyone's fictional boyfriend Oscar Isaac is taking on Shakespeare's most famous monologue-r.
This summer at New York City's Public Theater, Isaac will headline Sam Gold's production of Hamlet, per the New York Times.
This production may sound familiar to theatre fans, as it was originally slated to run at the Theater for a New Audience’s Polonsky Shakespeare Center in Brooklyn this season, until Gold had a falling out with the theater last year. Luckily for us, the Public stepped in.
For those who don't know, Hamlet is arguably Shakespeare's most famous and greatest play. The tragedy of the Danish prince has a long history with innumerable adaptations but Isaac's run is without a doubt an exciting addition.
As if Isaac isn't exciting enough, the production will also be the New York stage debut of comedian Keegan-Michael Key as Hamlet's best friend and confidante Horatio.
Hamlet will run at the Public Theater from June 20 through Sept. 3 this year.
