Overwatch's latest patch introduced a handful of changes, including buffs to several heroes, additions to Capture the Flag and new customization options for controls and games.

Patch 1.8 came to all platforms today bringing buffs to make Bastion a more versatile hero, customization options for targeting sensitivity on certain heroes' abilities, a custom game browser and a persistent capture the flag mode with brand new maps.

Custom game browser

The new custom game browser allows the Overwatch community to create and share custom game modes, as well as join other players' custom games. This allows people who want to shake up their Overwatch matches to easily group up and play with other like-minded individuals.

Capture the Flag

The Capture the Rooster event was apparently a big enough hit to make the game mode a permanent feature in the Arcade. The Capture the Flag mode is no longer limited to just Lijiang Tower maps, though, and will now have 12 different maps across Lijiang Tower, Ilios, Nepal and Oasis.

Hero changes

Ana

  • Players can now adjust Nano Boost’s targeting sensitivity.

Bastion

  • Self-Repair can now be used while moving, is no longer interrupted by taking damage and is now bound to secondary fire (formerly Ability 2). Self-Repair also now has a new resource meter that depletes while the ability is active and recharges when not in use.

  • Configuration: Sentry's (turret mode's) reconfiguration time decreased from 1.5 seconds to 1 second, bullet spread is increased by 50 percent and fixed at that spread, magazine size is increased from 200 to 300 and Bastion no longer deals critical damage in Sentry.

  • Configuration: Recon's (walking mode's) bullet spread is decreased by 25 percent and magazine size is increased from 20 to 25.

  • Configuration: Tank no longer grants bonus armor.

  • New passive ability Ironclad makes Bastion take 35 percent less damage while in Sentry or Tank configurations.

Bastion is now more than just a one-trick pony. With the buffs made to Self-Repair and the Recon configuration, Bastion is a bit more formidable when he's on the move. With that change, the Sentry and Tank configurations have taken a hit so Bastion won't do quite as much damage when set up as a turret and will be a little bit easier to take down after hitting his ultimate.

D.Va

  • Enemy shots no longer need to travel a minimum distance before they can be blocked by Defense Matrix.

The best offense against D.Va was getting right up close to her to bypass her Defense Matrix and land your hits without any troubles, but no longer. Now when D.Va gets hooked by Roadhog or McCree rolls right into her grill, she can stop their attacks with her defensive ability.

Mei

  • Mei can now be targeted by allies while in Cryo-Freeze.

Mercy

  • While performing Resurrect, Mercy now becomes temporarily invulnerable along with the allies being revived.

  • Zenyatta can no longer be targeted by the Caduceus Staff when Transcendence is active

  • Players can now adjust targeting sensitivity on Caduceus Staff beams and Guardian Angel.

Sometimes to get an effective Resurrect off, Mercy needs to put herself in the line of fire, often resulting in her death. Now she won't die before her allies are finished resurrecting, increasing her survivability in sticky situations.

Roadhog

  • Scrap Gun spread decreased by 20 percent.

  • Chain Hook targets are now pulled to a location 3.5 meters away, up from 2 meters, and cooldown increased from 6 to 8.

Roadhog's hooks are now a little less powerful but the Scrap Gun is a little more effective at longer ranges.

Sombra

  • Players can adjust the targeting sensitivity on Sombra’s Hack ability.

Symmetra

  • On consoles, Sentry Turret's damage per second is increased from 21 to 25.5.

Torbjörn

  • Rivet Gun's ammo is now loaded earlier in the reload animation.

  • On consoles, Turret's damage is increased from 10 to 12.
