The Panama Papers are a massive leak of over 11 million files that total over 2 TB of data from the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca, which specializes in creating shell companies where wealthy individuals can secretly hold and control financial assets.  

So how did the largest data leak in history happen, and why does it matter?
