It was an irresistible scene: Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, fresh off the crushing defeat of his plan to repeal and replace Obamacare, listening to "Last Resort" by Papa Roach as he drove away in a black SUV.

Sample lyrics:

Cut my life into pieces This is my last resort Suffocation No breathing Don't give a fuck if I cut my arm, bleeding This is my last resort

Unfortunately, Ryan crying the pain away via Papa Roach after failing to take away healthcare from 24 million Americans was fake news. The joke-turned-hoax blew up fast on Twitter, with the original Photoshop job looking like it came from Justin Halpern.

Lots of people, who we won't embarrass here, agreed via their own tweets that the kicker, or closing line, on what appeared to be a New York Times story was the newspaper's best ever.

The actual kicker is a little less exciting.

Papa Roach is a good idea for Ryan, though, or anyone who's sad they were tricked by Twitter.

UPDATE: March 25, 2017, 9:42 a.m. EDT

Papa Roach on Friday night responded to their re-entry into the national spotlight with the perfect Paul Ryan burn.

But they made sure to remind us that "Last Resort" was written about suicide, and guided anyone who's actually turning to the song in pain to get help.
