Speaker of the House Paul Ryan announced his endorsement of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Thursday, and quickly followed that endorsement by saying he hopes Republicans unite "before the fall."

Now, Ryan probably meant "fall" as in autumn, which is when the presidential election will take place.

But given that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had just finished a speech in which she illustrated several end-of-the-world type scenarios she thinks could happen were Trump elected president, the internet was primed to take Ryan's meaning as, "the fall of humanity."
