Badass Scottish penguin promoted to the rank of Brigadier
LONDON -- Unless you happen to be a king, a knight and a brigadier, the penguin pictured above is officially more important than you.
On Monday, king penguin Sir Nils Olav received a visit at Edinburgh Zoo from the King of Norway's Guard.
If you're wondering why this particular penguin has a knighthood and why it's receiving visits from the Norweigan armed forces (both legitimate questions), it's because he's the regiment's mascot. A family in Norway were the first to present king penguins to Edinburgh Zoo back in 2014, and there's been a link between the two ever since.

“We are honoured to host His Majesty the King of Norway’s Guard as they bestow a prestigious new title upon our king penguin, Sir Nils Olav," Acting CEO for the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, Barbara Smith, was quoted as saying in a press release sent to Mashable.
"It is a very proud moment and represents the close collaboration between our two countries, Scotland and Norway.”
