For a few perplexing moments, the world was under the impression that the Pentagon seriously wanted Donald Trump to resign from his presidency.

The official Twitter account for the U.S. Department of Defense briefly joined The Resistance on Thursday, retweeting someone straight up calling for Donald Trump to resign.

TBH, with all 2017's thrown at us, it was only a bit shocking, and though the tweet has since been deleted, it still caused quite the commotion online.

The tweet, written by Twitter user @ProudResister, addressed sexual assault allegations facing Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, Sen. Al Franken, and Trump himself — calling on Moore to step down from the Senate race, and Franken and Trump to resign.

ProudResister then addressed the GOP, saying, "Stop making sexual assault a partisan issue. It's a crime as is your hypocrisy."

After the retweet was removed, Pentagon spokesman, Col. Rob Manning, told The Associated Press the action was accidental and that the content of the tweet "would not be endorsed by the Department of Defense."

Manning added that the authorized operator of the Department of Defense's Twitter page "caught this error and immediately deleted it." Though, as Washington Examiner editor Dave Brown noted, retweets doooo take a bit of effort.

Accident or not, seeing the Pentagon call for a president's resignation was quite a sight and people were fairly amused.

The mishap was also a bit reminiscent of those 11 minutes when Trump's Twitter account was deleted by a Twitter employee.

It's almost like Trump and Twitter just do not mix very well.

Almost.
