25,000 cheaters have already been banned from popular streaming game 'Playerunknown's Battlegrounds'

That's a lot of cheaters.

Playerunknown's Battlegrounds has had a bit of a cheater problem, but it appears that the developer is taking care of it.

PUBG developer Bluehole announced yesterday that more than 25,000 players have been banned for using cheats since the game launched in beta in March. That's right -- the game isn't even fully out yet and it's still attracting tens of thousands of cheaters.

Although Bluehole didn't specifically name any cheats that it banned players for using -- probably to keep cheaters shaking in their boots and fearing that they'll be next -- the battle royale-style FPS game is likely prone to cheats prevalent in most FPS games, like aim-assist bots and cheats that let players see opponents through walls.

The number of banned players seems pretty high for a game that isn't fully out yet and is only available on PC, but apparently people are willing to bend the rules to get the edge they need to win games.

In PUBG, players parachute onto an island with 99 other hostile players, search for weapons and gear to protect themselves (and to kill others with), and try to survive as the island's safe area persistently closes in on them. It's highly competitive and one of the most-watched games on Twitch.

Serious players are undoubtedly happy that Bluehole is taking a hard stance against cheaters, and some banned are undoubtedly angered by the fact that they can't just freely cheat to win games.

Players took to Reddit to share their opinions about PUBG cheaters and FPS cheaters in general, with one player saying that PUBG's anti-cheat service, Battleye, seems to be one of the best anti-cheat services out there given how few cheaters he's seen in PUBG and Rainbow Six: Siege, which also uses Battleye. Redditor ShadowRam echoed that fact, saying they hadn't seen one cheat in 237 hours of PUBG.

Another Redditor, MrSmith317, shared a cheater horror story that proves how cheats can ruin the integrity of competitive multiplayer games:

I had an entire game end in under 3 minutes. The guy must have landed found an AK and lots of ammo because he killed at least half the population of the server in a few seconds. I was alone in a building when my head exploded. As I watched the kill feed it was just name after name of people dying. I stayed in game and a minute or two later it was all over. One guy, 90+ kills.

Hopefully the cheaters have learned their lessons and would-be cheaters are deterred from using their antics in Playerunknown's Battlegrounds.
