This can't be happening.

The only words we've heard out of Pikachu's adorable little face were "Pikachu" and some minor variations of it. Until 2017, that is.

Now, apparently, Pikachu speaks full English sentences, and that's not OK.

Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! just premiered in the West earlier this month in a limited theatrical run, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise with a condensed reimagining of the first 80 episodes of the Pokémon anime series.

To fit in all the important bits of Ash Ketchum's journey with his trusty first Pokémon, Pikachu, some things had to be changed or omitted (including Ash's best friends Misty and Brock).

But the most alarming addition was Pikachu's apparent mastery of actual sentences and, specifically, the English language.

Warning: Spoilers for Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! ahead

In a teary scene, Ash has a vision after taking a pretty rough hit in saving Pikachu from a fatal attack. He falls to the ground with Pikachu in his vision and asks Pikachu why it never wants to go in a Pokéball.

Pikachu then responds, and the crowd in one theater was in disbelief.

To be fair, Pikachu's response to Ash is pretty touching, and probably wouldn't have the same effect as the little Pokémon saying "Pika pi."

But it's still incredibly unsettling to hear Pikachu speak real words, even if it is only in Ash's vision.

Outside of this vision the only Pokémon to ever speak in any movies or anime episodes were some legendary Pokémon, a Slowking, and Team Rocket's Meowth (who worked really hard to learn how to speak to impress another Meowth).

Please: Don't make Pikachu talk like this anymore.
