This week, Nintendo unveiled a lot of information about the newest Pokémon games coming to home consoles.

We know now the eighth generation of games will be Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, that they will explore the region of Galar, and that they will introduce three new starter Pokémon: Sobble, Grookey and Scorbunny.

The internet has swiftly fallen in love with these three adorable babies, and even if you have a clear favorite, you have to admit they're all fairly cute. But there's a lot we still don't know.

For example: What will Sobble, Grookey and Scorbunny evolve into? As the game progresses, we can expect the water, fire and grass-type starters to grow – first into an awkward teen phase, then into a glorious final form. But we don't know what those forms will look like yet.

For that reason, Mashable Illustrator Bob Al-Greene took it upon himself to design (and even name) the future evolutions of our new stars.

Check them out below.

NOTE: These Pokémon are not official, and the art is not from Nintendo. These are speculative pieces designed by an illustrator at Mashable.

Scorbunny

Scorbunny is a fire-type rabbit Pokémon. Since rabbits are known for their swiftness (think the tortoise and the hare), it makes sense for the lil' bunny to evolve into a speed demon.

Grookey

Grookey is a plant-type monkey Pokémon. His evolution could take any route, but turning him into a giant tree-like gorilla would be cool.

Sobble

Finally, Sobble, the wide-eyed water-type chameleon Pokémon. The name Sobble implies a certain sadness or emotionality, and that thread continues through to its final form.
