Spotify announces 'Pokémon' theme song plays up 382%
"You teach me and I teach you! PO-KE-MON!"
If Pokémon Go had you humming these words all weekend, you aren't alone. It seems the catchy Pokémon theme song is users' choice for opening music for the mobile game phenomenon.
According to data from Spotify, that catchy theme song -- made popular by the cartoon show that started airing in the late '90s -- was all the rage on the streaming service this weekend. Spotify users played the "Pokémon Theme" 382% more often last weekend than they did normally.

That was followed in popularity by the '90s jam "The Pokérap" -- where the MC names all 151 monsters. (You can tell it's dated, since there were only 151 back then. Now there are 725.)
While much of this has to do with Pokémon Go's wild, overnight success, there have always been plenty of Poké-fans lurking on Spotify. The streaming service also has 197,000 user-generated Pokémon playlists, and a further 53,000 simply titled "Pikachu."
