Polar bears and traffic cones are an unexpectedly delightful combination
LONDON -- Apparently, it doesn't take much to make a polar bear happy.
Some traffic cones and drainage pipe should do the trick.
Transport Scotland's construction contractor Wills Bros John Paul JV is working with the RZSS Highland Wildlife Park to find a more environmentally friendly means of disposing of damaged or unwanted materials from its A9 construction project.

The Park's three resident polar bears -- Walker, Arktos and Victoria -- enjoy tossing the donated cones in the air and hiding things inside of them. The musk ox like to get in on the action too, head-butting and rolling the drainage pipes about for fun.
Work to dual the stretch of the A9 between Kincraig and Dalraddy began in September of last year and is set to complete in summer 2017. During this time, other materials such as excess greenery felled for the project have also been donated to the benefit of the animals.
Douglas Richardson, Head of Living Collections at RZSS Highland Wildlife Park, said in a press release: "The animals have been making good use of the various items, which are being used for enrichment purposes as well as for bedding and flooring in a number of enclosures.”
Bears and parking cones are a thing, and we're not sad about it. Kudos to Transport Scotland for providing these guys with the bear necessities.
