LONDON -- The internet loves a good mystery, and that goes double when it's a Harry Potter-themed one.

On Wednesday afternoon, Pottermore -- the official website for all things Potter-related -- tweeted the following image.

Intriguing, but what does it mean?

Well luckily, excited Harry Potter fans make excellent online sleuths.

First, people played around with the contrast.

The picture appeared to show a darkened shot of a dimly lit forest -- but what was it all about?

Some thought the trees might be to do with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Others suggested the image might relate to a much-anticipated Patronus Test.

And others simply tried to use magic to find the answer.

As the afternoon progressed, Pottermore tweeted more images.

The Patronus Test began to look like a real possibility.

There were also video clips.

By Thursday morning, things were becoming clearer.

At the time of writing, this is Pottermore's most recent clue.

If that isn't a silver stag Patronus about to form, we don't know what is.

It looks as thought we may soon have an official Patronus Test, people.
