This is why you shouldn't mess with the heroine of AMC's 'Preacher'
Tulip O'Hare is not one to be trifled with.
The female lead in AMC's Preacher -- played by Ruth Negga -- has a colorful past. We won't spoil the particulars for those that haven't read the comics, but you can get a good sense of Tulip's background in this new clip.

Preacher is hard to describe. In the comic, protagonist Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper on the series) -- a reverend -- possesses what amounts to the voice of God. Listeners must obey any command he utters.
That kind of power is difficult to hide, and it paints a big target on Jesse's back. He's not alone, though: Tulip and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) have his back. Usually.
The official synopsis from AMC makes the series sound like a close adaptation of the original story, which was penned by Garth Ennis:
Preacher follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, and has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned his responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making him answer for his dereliction of duty. Accompanying Jesse on his journey is his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint in the pub to the blood of the innocent. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print – an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers —a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse.
Preacher premieres on May 22.
