Some of the best art comes in small pockets.

Melissa Kaseman, a photographer and mom living in Oakland, California, created a whimsical photo series with an unlikely subject: all the stuff her son Calder keeps in his pockets.

The project, called "Preschool Pocket Treasures," serves as a visually charming ode to a preschooler's constantly morphing imagination.

"I've always been interested in photography's capacity to suspend and document moments of transition and change," Kaseman told Mashable.

"The magic of childhood is so fleeting, and these objects I kept finding in Calder's pockets represent a chapter of boyhood, his imagination and the magic of finding a "treasure."

Sometimes, Calder's treasures even convey a message. When he presented his mom with the below items, he said (according to Kaseman's Instagram): "I missed you yesterday. So I spelled LOVE with my treasures."

We have to say, Calder has impeccable taste in treasures. We wish we had beads and butterfly wings in our pockets instead of, hypothetically, an old tube of Chapstick and a hair tie.

The series will be included in a group show in November during Review Santa Fe at the CENTER.
