UPDATE: Oct. 3, 2022, 1:52 p.m. EDT This story has been updated with news about Target's second Deal Days event this year, in competition with Amazon's Prime Early Access sale.

Target has thrown its red vest into the anti-Prime Day ring.

The department store chain will be hosting a second Target Deal Days event from Oct. 6 to 8. That's pretty damn close to the dates for Amazon's Prime Early Access sale (aka Prime Day 2) on Oct. 11 and 12. Coincidence? We think not.

Target hosted its first Deal Days event earlier this year from July 11 to 13 as a competing sale to the first Prime Day of the year, which was held on July 12 and 13.

According to the press release, Target's Deal Days round two will be three days full of low prices across categories like toys, electronics, and video games, and alongside brands like Apple, Disney, Cuisinart, and Beats. Target also claims there will be four times more deals than last year's event, making this a good time to get ahead on holiday shopping.

Unlike Amazon's Prime Early Access sale, Target Deal Days comes with an extended holiday price match guarantee. From Oct. 6 through Dec. 24, Target will match competitor's prices on any item within 14 days of purchase — so if you see a product cheaper on Amazon or another retailer, you can score that same price at Target.

Target previewed that shoppers will be able to earn gift cards during the Deal Days event, similar to Amazon's "Prime Day Credits" program from earlier this year. This is definitely a trend to look out for across other retailers for the upcoming shopping holidays.

Target's press release dropped some specific deals to watch for once the event starts. Here are some highlights:

Tech deals

Gift card deals

Home deals

Toy deals
